Forelock’s chocolate-maroon flower heads have lots of personality and suggest all sorts of creative pairings. The sturdy stems grow 4 feet tall, with buds that emerge curled like garlic, then straighten up just before they bloom. The 3″ diameter flowers display fuzzy white stamens that give the blossoms a frosted look. Spent florets stand upright, creating a spiky topknot. It’s a look that’s slightly wacky and completely wonderful.
